Frequently asked

Good to know before you go.

The practical answers, from arrival times to what to pack. Anything we haven’t covered, just ask, we love a good question.

Before you arrive

The essentials.

The shape of a Globeseekers retreat, wherever you join us: when to arrive, how we practise, and how we eat.

Ask us anything

Arrivals are between 14:00 and 16:00, when we’ll have welcome snacks and drinks prepared. Departure is after a yoga class and a goodbye brunch.

On a typical day there’s one yoga class plus a second course, such as yoga philosophy and health coaching, an introduction to Thai yoga massage, Qi Gong, an acro yoga (partner yoga) class, or an embodiment practice. Our classes are designed to suit all levels, with adjustments possible for every ability.

Every day starts with a generous breakfast buffet: oatmeal or cereals, wholegrain bread, veggie spreads, a range of cheeses, nuts, fruit salad, yoghurt, honey, coffee and tea.

You can take something from the breakfast buffet for lunch, and on some days we’ll stop at a mountain hut where you can try Tyrolean specialities.

Evening meals are a variety of vegetarian dishes: local produce and traditional recipes mixed with international ones, like the veggie curries we picked up in cooking courses in Sri Lanka and the spices we bring home from our travels. Lots of fresh vegetables, salads and deli from the region.

Of course. All the meals we prepare are vegetarian. If you’re vegan, or have allergies or other dietary requirements, just let us know.

Summer retreats · Austria

Getting to the Zillertal.

For our ‘Top of the Mountain’ summer retreats, high in the Zillertal at 1800 metres. How to travel, the final climb up, and what to pack.

See the Austria retreat

The closest airport to the Zillertal is Innsbruck (70 km); the second closest is Munich (190 km). From both, the valley is easy to reach by train or transfer bus. From Innsbruck Airport, take a short bus or taxi to the main train station, then change trains once at Jenbach. From Munich Airport, change once in Munich and again at Jenbach.

If you prefer a transfer service, we recommend Four Seasons transfers, well priced and efficient. Prices vary by date, so it’s best to check directly for your arrival and departure times at tirol-taxi.at. More travel info is on the Zillertal website.

Gasthof Gschösswandhaus, the stunning home of our ‘Top of the Mountain’ retreats, is best reached by the Penkenbahn cable car. The valley station is 1 km from the Mayrhofen im Zillertal train station. The last lift up is at 16:20, so aim to arrive in Mayrhofen by 16:20 at the latest. All cable-car info is on the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen website.

If you’d rather drive up to the Gschösswandhaus, contact us in advance so we can give you the keycode for the barrier part way up. Please note the road is a steep, one-way gravel track.

Our recommended packing list for the summer retreats:

  • Yoga clothes
  • Hiking gear (shoes, rain jacket, layers, backpack…)
  • Sun cream, sunglasses, sun hat
  • A water bottle
  • An outdoor towel and swimwear
  • Your own yoga mat, if you have one
  • Travel insurance documents
  • Climbing shoes and a harness, if you have your own

Mountain weather in summer can change quickly, so bring some warm clothes too, including a woolly hat.

No. We have routes for every level. For the climbing course, you just chip in for the gear and a small tip for our external climbing guide, never more than €20, once. We cover the rest.
